Unity Health is celebrating a major investment in advanced medical imaging technology with the unveiling of a new PET/CT scanner at the Pyeatt Family Cancer Center in Searcy.
The Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce is inviting the public to join Unity Health Foundation for a ribbon-cutting celebration on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Pyeatt Family Cancer Center, 415 Rodgers Drive in Searcy.
The new imaging equipment is designed to give healthcare professionals more detailed information to help diagnose diseases, evaluate medical conditions and guide treatment decisions. The investment also supports Unity Health’s ongoing effort to make advanced medical care available closer to home for patients in Searcy, White County and the surrounding region.
Advanced Technology for Local Patients
PET/CT imaging combines 2 types of medical scans into a single exam. A positron emission tomography, or PET, scan shows metabolic activity inside the body. A computed tomography, or CT, scan produces detailed images of the body’s internal structures.
Together, the 2 technologies let healthcare professionals compare information about tissue activity with precise anatomical images.
PET/CT imaging is especially valuable in cancer care, where physicians may use it to evaluate disease, determine whether cancer has spread and see how patients are responding to treatment. The equipment can also support other medical evaluations when clinically appropriate.
Keeping Advanced Healthcare Close to Home
Unity Health and the Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce say the new scanner is another important investment in healthcare services for local residents.
Patients who need specialized imaging may otherwise have to travel outside their home communities for some exams. By expanding imaging at the Pyeatt Family Cancer Center, Unity Health aims to reduce that travel and keep care closer to patients’ families and support systems. That is especially important for cancer patients, who may need imaging at several stages of their care.
Pyeatt Family Cancer Center
The Pyeatt Family Cancer Center brings together oncology care, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, breast health services and diagnostic imaging. The new PET/CT scanner adds to the technology available at the center, part of Unity Health’s effort to offer comprehensive cancer services in one convenient location.
