Cabot High School is earning national recognition as its esports program joins some of the most successful high school competitive gaming programs in the United States.

Cabot High School has been ranked #10 in the nation in the USA TODAY Sports/PlayVS Super 25 high school esports rankings, making the Panthers the only Arkansas school to earn a spot among the nation’s Top 25 programs in the opening fall 2026 rankings.

The national rankings, released October 12, 2026, recognize high school esports programs demonstrating exceptional performance in organized competitive gaming.

Cabot’s achievement places the school alongside nationally recognized esports programs from Alabama, Georgia, Florida and other states.

Cabot Panthers Post Impressive National Winning Percentages

According to the USA TODAY Sports/PlayVS rankings, Cabot High School recorded outstanding competitive results during the opening weeks of the fall esports season.

The Panthers’ national ranking includes:

  • National Ranking: #10
  • Match-Winning Percentage: 88%
  • Game-Winning Percentage: 83%
  • Total Esports Leagues: 8
  • Arkansas Ranking: Highest-ranked Arkansas school
  • National Recognition: Only Arkansas school among the Top 25

The results placed Cabot among the nation’s highest-performing high school esports programs after the first 3 weeks of fall competition.

Cabot ranked immediately behind Sparkman High School in Alabama, which held the #9 position, and ahead of Doctor Phillips High School in Florida at #11.

The national recognition reflects Cabot’s success across multiple competitive esports leagues rather than performance in just 1 game.

Cabot Is the Only Arkansas School in National Top 25

One of the most significant accomplishments for Cabot High School is its distinction as the only Arkansas school included in the opening national Top 25 rankings.

While high school esports competition continues to grow throughout Arkansas, Cabot’s appearance in the national rankings places the Panthers among some of the strongest programs in the country.

The national recognition also highlights the opportunities available to students participating in competitive gaming through organized school programs.

How the National High School Esports Rankings Work

USA TODAY Sports and PlayVS use a performance-based ranking system to identify the nation’s leading high school esports programs.

To qualify for the Super 25 rankings, schools must actively compete in at least 5 different esports titles.

Programs are ranked using the average match-winning percentage of their strongest-performing team in each eligible game title.

When schools have identical averages, additional factors, including game-winning percentages and overall program size, are used to determine placement.

Popular games featured in national PlayVS competition include Rocket League, Madden NFL, Overwatch, Street Fighter, Marvel Rivals, Pokémon Unite and League of Legends.

These are examples of games included in national competition and do not necessarily represent Cabot’s specific fall schedule.

Cabot Public School District Celebrates National Achievement

The Cabot Public School District celebrated the accomplishment with a public announcement congratulating the school’s esports students and coaches.

The district highlighted Cabot’s national #10 ranking, its 88% match-winning percentage and its 83% game-winning percentage.

The district also emphasized the importance of being the only Arkansas school represented in the national Top 25.

The announcement ended with a message of school pride, congratulating the talented students and coaches responsible for the achievement.

Esports Opens Doors for Arkansas Students

High school esports provides students opportunities to participate in organized competition while developing teamwork, communication, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.

Like traditional athletic programs, competitive esports often requires regular practice, preparation, coordination and the ability to perform under pressure.

The Arkansas Activities Association recognizes sanctioned high school esports competition, with PlayVS providing competitive gaming opportunities for participating schools.

For Cabot High School students, the national ranking represents another opportunity to bring recognition to their school and community.

National Recognition Brings Panther Pride to Cabot

Cabot’s #10 national ranking is a significant achievement for the school’s esports program and the students competing under the Panthers name.

With an 88% match-winning percentage, an 83% game-winning percentage and participation across 8 esports leagues, Cabot demonstrated the competitive consistency needed to earn recognition on the national stage.

The opening fall 2026 ranking gives the Cabot High School esports program a place among the nation’s top competitors.

For the Cabot Panthers, the message is clear: Arkansas students are competing — and winning — on the national esports stage.

The rankings may change as the fall season continues.
