Fairfield Bay Mayor Seth Connell found out on Wednesday that he is unopposed in his campaign for a 4-year term as mayor.

Connell made the announcement following the close of the 2026 municipal candidate filing period. According to Connell, no challenger filed to seek the office.

“Today, I was informed that I am officially unchallenged in my candidacy for the office of mayor of Fairfield Bay,” Connell said. “I will receive a 4-year term.”

Connell was appointed mayor by the Fairfield Bay City Council in December 2024 at age 25. The appointment placed him in office through Dec. 31, 2026. The city continues to identify Connell as its current mayor on its official administration page. City of Fairfield Bay appointment resolution.

In his announcement, Connell reflected on the controversy that surrounded Fairfield Bay’s city government before his appointment and described his decision to accept the position as a significant personal and professional risk.

Connell said the community has since experienced renewed economic momentum, including incoming shops, growing businesses and several major projects planned for the future.

“Fairfield Bay is back,” Connell said. “Our future now looks brighter than it has in my entire childhood growing up here.”

Connell characterized the lack of opposition as an indication that residents support the direction of the city. He also encouraged supporters to contact local and statewide news organizations and share information about Fairfield Bay’s recent progress.

“People deserve to know,” Connell said. “I’ve spent years of my life in Fairfield Bay and to step in as Mayor I was risking my peace and personal reputation for Fairfield Bay. But if I knew 2 years ago what I know now, I would do it all over again.”

Connell currently serves the remainder of a mayoral term that expires at the end of 2026. His continuation in office remains subject to the applicable election and certification procedures.
