A Newport man died following a single-vehicle rollover crash on State Highway 14 in rural Independence County.
According to a preliminary report from Arkansas State Police, Kristopher G. Cousins, 40, of Newport was killed in the crash Saturday, August 22, 2026.
The wreck happened at approximately 5:07 p.m. near Oil Trough.
State Police reported Cousins was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer westbound on State Highway 14 when the SUV left the roadway.
The vehicle then entered a roadside ditch and overturned.
Cousins was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the preliminary crash report, weather conditions were cloudy at the time of the wreck and the roadway was dry.
The crash remains documented as a single-vehicle accident in the Arkansas State Police preliminary report.
