Lyon College will open its 2026-27 Convocation lecture series with a Holocaust remembrance and education program featuring Paragould resident Al Bromberg.
“Generation to Generation: Dignity” will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, on the Lyon College campus at 2300 Highland Road in Batesville. The event is free and open to the public.
The program will include a presentation by Bromberg followed by a screening of the documentary “Generation to Generation: Dignity.”
Bromberg will share the survival story of his father, Harry Bromberg, who was born in Poland in 1919 and survived 9 Nazi work, concentration and death camps during the Holocaust.
Harry Bromberg was a shoemaker by trade, and according to Lyon College, those skills helped him survive during his imprisonment under the Nazi regime. His story of perseverance, loss and survival is now being preserved and shared by his son.
Parts of Harry Bromberg’s story and Al Bromberg’s own journey have connections to Arkansas, giving the presentation a personal connection to communities across the state.
“Generation to Generation: Dignity” is part of the award-winning “Generation to Generation” documentary series produced by BNB Productions. The series was created to preserve the experiences of Holocaust survivors and pass their stories and lessons to future generations.
Al Bromberg has shared his parents’ story and Holocaust history with students, congregations and community organizations. He also moderates the Facebook group “Heritage of the Holocaust,” which Lyon College says has nearly 19,000 members.
His presentations focus on preserving the historical record, encouraging understanding and making sure lessons from the Holocaust continue to be shared.
Lyon College officials say the September 9 program will give participants an opportunity to learn about the Holocaust through the experience of 1 family and consider the importance of preserving personal testimony as part of the historical record.
Lyon College is a private liberal arts institution founded in 1872. The college is located in Batesville and currently enrolls 781 students from more than 33 states and 14 countries.
