A new chapter in workforce education officially began in Van Buren County as the Clinton School District celebrated the ribbon cutting of the Clinton High School Aerospace & Technical Training Center.

The innovative training center is the result of a partnership between the Clinton School District, Clinton Municipal Airport, University of Arkansas–North Arkansas College, and Dawson Aircraft. The collaboration creates a unique opportunity for students to receive hands-on aviation maintenance and technical education while preparing for careers in one of Arkansas’ fastest-growing industries.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the generous donation from Dawson Aircraft. Trevor Dawson donated 2 airplanes along with a variety of aircraft equipment, giving students invaluable real-world experience working on actual aviation systems.

Congressman French Hill addressed those attending the ceremony, emphasizing the growing need for skilled workers and the importance of career and technical education across Arkansas.

Clinton School District Superintendent Tim Smith said the program will allow local students to develop industry-ready skills while remaining close to home, opening doors to rewarding careers without leaving their community.

University of Arkansas–North Arkansas College President Dr. Rick Massengale praised the partnership between education, industry, and community leaders, saying the project demonstrates what can be accomplished when organizations work together with a common vision.

The Aerospace & Technical Training Center will provide students with hands-on instruction in aviation maintenance, technical skills, and workforce readiness while helping strengthen Arkansas’ future workforce and supporting economic development throughout the region.

Community leaders say the facility represents more than a new classroom—it is an investment in the future of Clinton, creating opportunities for students, employers, and the local economy for generations to come.
