State Representative Shad Pearce is taking time out to recognize the hardworking farm families who continue to drive Arkansas’ largest industry and support communities across the state.

Pearce praised the dedication and sacrifice of Arkansas farmers while emphasizing the important role agriculture plays in the state’s economy and heritage.

“Some families pass down recipes. Some pass down stories,” Pearce said. “In Arkansas, farm families pass down land and a promise to leave it better than when they found it.”

Pearce added that farmers rise early, work late, and help feed people they may never meet while continuing to strengthen Arkansas communities and the state economy.

Agriculture remains Arkansas’s largest industry, contributing more than $20 billion annually to the state economy through farming, forestry, poultry, rice, soybeans, cattle, cotton, and food processing.

According to state agriculture data, the industry supports more than 240,000 jobs across Arkansas in farming, transportation, equipment sales, retail, and food processing operations.

Arkansas continues to rank among the nation’s leaders in rice production, poultry production, catfish farming, soybeans, and cotton production.

Pearce also highlighted the importance of agriculture to rural Arkansas communities where farmers support local banks, equipment dealers, feed stores, restaurants, schools, and Main Street businesses.

“Agriculture is Arkansas’s largest industry, but the strength behind it is family,” Pearce said. “I am proud to salute our hardworking farm families that keep Arkansas growing.”

Agriculture remains especially important in the Arkansas Delta, White River region, and north-central Arkansas, where farming continues to drive local economies and preserve rural traditions for future generations.
