U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Chairman John Boozman of Arkansas has released legislative text for what he is calling Farm Bill 2.0, a proposal designed to provide farmers, ranchers, foresters and rural communities with additional tools and resources to strengthen the agricultural economy.

Boozman said the legislation builds upon improvements made to farm programs through the Working Families Tax Cuts and includes bipartisan priorities aimed at increasing investments in rural America while creating a more resilient agricultural sector.

“We can all agree that we must take steps to help America’s farm families, and one of the most important ways we demonstrate that commitment is by passing a bipartisan farm bill,” Boozman said.

The Arkansas senator said the discussion draft reflects input from Republicans, Democrats and stakeholders throughout rural America.

“Congress delivered historic improvements to farm programs through the Working Families Tax Cuts, and we’re continuing to expand upon that success with bipartisan priorities that strengthen the American farm economy, increase investments for rural communities and foster a more resilient agricultural sector,” Boozman said.

Boozman added that the proposal is designed for the people who feed America and said he looks forward to continued discussions with colleagues as work on the farm bill moves forward.

The legislation is expected to be reviewed by lawmakers and agricultural organizations as Congress continues negotiations on a long-term farm bill.
