Searcy Parks and Recreation leaders say major improvements and new projects are helping enhance quality of life while supporting continued growth throughout the community.

In a recent social media update, Parks Director Mike Parsons highlighted the department’s wide-ranging responsibilities, including oversight of Riverside Park, Berryhill Park, Spring Park, Yancey Park, the city’s bike trail system, soccer fields, and the sports complex.

Parsons, who has served with the department for approximately 22 years, said the goal is for people across Arkansas to recognize Searcy Parks and Recreation for its expanding offerings and future developments.

Assistant Parks Director Damon Johnson said approximately 2,500 children currently participate in youth sports programs. During tournament weekends, between 3,500 and 4,200 visitors pass through the sports complex, creating a significant economic and community impact for Searcy.

Parsons outlined several major projects either underway or planned, including a new community center, an outdoor aquatics park, a renovated soccer complex, a new dog park and walking trail, new basketball courts, and a splash pad opening soon at Berryhill Park alongside a brand-new playground.

Additional improvements are also planned for Riverside Park.

Johnson said success is measured by whether families and residents leave facilities with a positive experience and want to return.

Parsons added that quality of life remains the department’s guiding principle, noting that strong parks and recreation amenities help attract residents and strengthen communities.
