Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has announced more than $2 million in funding to help Arkansas forest landowners protect and restore forests across the state. The Arkansas Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the Southern Pine Beetle Prevention Program and the Southeast Arkansas Hardwood Reforestation Program through August 14, 2026.

Governor Sanders said Arkansas’ forests are a vital part of the state’s economy and natural beauty, supporting jobs, businesses, and rural communities. State officials say the funding will help landowners improve forest health while protecting one of Arkansas’ most valuable natural resources.

The Southern Pine Beetle Prevention Program offers $150,000 in cost-share assistance for thinning pine stands and prescribed burning to reduce the threat of southern pine beetle infestations. Individual landowners may receive up to $10,000.

An additional $2 million is available through the Southeast Arkansas Hardwood Reforestation Program. The funding will assist landowners with site preparation, hardwood tree planting, and the removal of dead pine timber to restore healthy hardwood forests.

Priority will be given to applicants in Ashley, Chicot, Desha, Drew, and Lincoln counties, although landowners statewide are encouraged to apply.

Applications for both programs will be accepted through August 14, 2026.
