The Cabot Fire Department recently partnered with MEMS to participate in the 2026 Arkansas Secondary School Interprofessional Sports Emergency Care Course, a hands-on training program designed to improve emergency response during school athletic events.

The training exercise focused on a simulated cardiac arrest emergency, allowing participants to practice the critical steps required when a medical emergency occurs on a school campus. The scenario demonstrated the response process from the initial actions taken by school personnel through the arrival of emergency medical services and fire department personnel.

Officials said the training highlighted the importance of coordination between schools, emergency medical providers, and fire departments when responding to life-threatening situations involving students, athletes, staff, or spectators.

The exercise provided valuable real-world experience for participants and reinforced the importance of rapid communication, teamwork, and advanced medical care during emergencies.

Cabot Fire Department officials thanked MEMS and all participating agencies for their commitment to improving emergency preparedness and ensuring the highest level of care during critical incidents.

Training opportunities such as the Arkansas Secondary School Interprofessional Sports Emergency Care Course help strengthen partnerships among schools and first responders while preparing communities for real-life emergencies.
