Motorists across Arkansas should expect increased military traffic on Interstates and highways beginning Friday, May 29, and continuing through June 15 as Arkansas National Guard troops travel for annual training exercises.

According to officials, National Guard troops will travel from armories across the state to Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center in Barling, Arkansas. Convoys will include large tactical military vehicles traveling at slower speeds than normal highway traffic.

Drivers could experience temporary slowdowns, especially near the rear of convoys where passing traffic may create congestion.

Officials encourage motorists to use caution when approaching and passing military vehicles. Drivers are also encouraged to monitor traffic conditions and travel updates through IDriveArkansas.com.

The increased military travel is expected to impact highways and interstates throughout Arkansas during the training period.
