Arkansas State Police are investigating a fatal 2-vehicle crash that happened Monday afternoon on State Highway 69 in rural Independence County.

According to the preliminary fatal crash summary released by Arkansas State Police, the crash happened at approximately 1:25 PM on May 19, 2026, near Hillcrest Lane.
Investigators said a 2004 Ford traveling northbound on Highway 69 lost control during rainy and wet road conditions, crossed the centerline, and struck a southbound 2024 Dodge Ram.
Authorities said the Dodge Ram left the roadway after the impact and caught fire.
One person identified as John Doe, who was driving the Dodge Ram, was killed in the crash. Arkansas State Police reported next of kin had not yet been notified at the time of the report.
The driver of the Ford, identified as 22-year-old Nathan Cole Woodall of Melbourne, was injured and transported to White River Medical Center for treatment.
The crash remains under investigation by Corporal Jeffrey A. Richardson with Arkansas State Police.
