A county-wide spring cleanup is now underway across White County, giving residents a chance to dispose of unwanted items and help beautify the community.
The cleanup event, hosted by White County and the City of Searcy, runs from April 30 through May 2 at the White County Fairgrounds on Davis Drive.
Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
Accepted items include regular tires, appliances, scrap metal, furniture, and bagged trash. Items not accepted include electronics, chemicals, batteries, concrete, and liquid paint.
Residents should note that illegal dumping after hours could result in a $1000 fine.
In addition, the Searcy Sanitation Department will host a free mulch giveaway Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Compost Center on North Main Street.
Officials encourage residents to take advantage of the opportunity to clean up their properties and neighborhoods.
