Officer Involved Shooting Under Investigation in Izard County Arkansas
An investigation is underway following an officer involved shooting in Izard County on Saturday morning, April 18, 2026.
According to officials, Izard County Dispatch received a call around 9:45 a.m. regarding a disturbance involving an individual reportedly making threats while armed with a knife. Deputies responded to the scene and made contact with the suspect.
Authorities say the suspect confronted a deputy and refused to comply with commands. During the encounter, the suspect was shot and later died from injuries sustained.
Izard County Sheriff Charley Melton has requested the Arkansas State Police to lead the investigation into the incident.
At this time, officials have not released the name of the suspect or any additional details. The Arkansas State Police will serve as the point of contact for further updates.
