Fairfield Bay Community Club Considers Free Yard Waste Pickup Program Starting June 1 2026

The Fairfield Bay Community Club is considering a new yard waste pickup program that could begin June 1, 2026, aimed at improving safety, drainage, and overall community appearance.

The proposed program, developed in collaboration with the City of Fairfield Bay and the Fairfield Bay Fire Department, would allow members to dispose of yard waste at no charge for the first time in 50 years.

Under the plan, Public Works would collect yard waste weekly from current paying garbage customers, with no set pickup day. Members could place compostable bags curbside 7 days a week. Approved bags include paper or compostable plastic, with options available at cost locally.

Leaders say the program could reduce leaf burning, improving air quality and lowering fire risks. It would also help prevent clogged ditches and culverts, improve drainage, and protect roads.

Accepted items include leaves, small limbs, shrubbery, and garden waste. Dirt, rocks, treated wood, and household trash would not be accepted.

Officials are asking for community feedback ahead of the next meeting scheduled for May 4 at 11:00 am.
