Reported Family Member Breaks Silence After Teen Goes Missing In Arkansas
McCain is described as a Caucasian female, 5’8″ tall, weighing approximately 170 lbs. She has black hair and brown eyes, according to police records.
A reported family member, Candace Watts-McCain, shared on social media that Alexis was released from a mental health facility to another facility. Due to HIPAA regulations, the family was not informed of her new location.
Watts-McCain explained the delay in reporting McCain missing stemmed from her being over 18. The legal constraints of HIPAA prevented the family from accessing her whereabouts earlier:
“The reason why it was reported two months later is because she’s over 18. She was released from a mental health facility to another facility however due to hippa we were not given the facility information, and then recently she was seen in Jacksonville so clearly she’s no longer in that facility, and she is intellectually disabled. So no, we we did nothing to harm our child. It was a legal situation due to hippa that kept us from getting her location and now we know she is out on the street.”
Recently, McCain was spotted in Jacksonville, indicating she is no longer in the facility. Watts-McCain noted that Alexis is intellectually disabled and now believed to be on the streets.
The family emphasized they did not harm McCain and are desperate to find her. They are working with authorities to ensure her safe return.
Police urge anyone with information on McCain’s whereabouts to contact Detective Harrison at (501) 982-3191, extension 6481. Please reference report number 25-02473 when providing details.
The Jacksonville community is encouraged to stay vigilant as the search for Alexis McCain continues. Updates will be provided as new information emerges.
