Harding University has announced the appointment of Robin Maynard as Chief Legal and Compliance Officer. In this role, Robin will serve as a senior officer for the University, overseeing legal affairs, policy strategy and compliance, and support in leadership and culture development. She is set to assume the role no later than September 23, 2024, and will report directly to Harding University President, Dr. Mike Williams.
Robin joins the University after an extensive career as an attorney, most recently at Lathrop GPM specializing in higher education institutions. She brings significant governance experience through service with five different organizations, including currently serving as a trustee at Harding University. This collective experience equips her to lead the University on matters of compliance, human resources, and leadership and culture development.
“Robin is a passionate professional with a tremendous skill-set. Her leadership acumen will be a great addition to our senior leadership,” said Dr. Williams, president of Harding University. “Her expertise in legal affairs and compliance, particularly in higher education, will be invaluable as we aim to uphold the highest standards of integrity and governance for our institution, which allows us to adapt, excel and courageously move forward without compromising our theological convictions.”
A longstanding member of the Harding community, Robin graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1989 before attending the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minn., graduating magna cum laude in 1992.
“Robin’s dedication to our University and its mission sets an inspiring example for our community,” said Charles Ganus, chairman of the Board of Trustees. “We are blessed to have her contribute her exceptional skills and talents to ensure Harding’s continued growth and success.”
Robin has a strong commitment to community service and education, exemplified in her service as a trustee for Hope Academy, an inner-city K-12 religious institution. She is also a trustee of Heritage21, a nonprofit organization working to encourage and facilitate biblical stewardship by supporting Churches of Christ.
