The Arkansas Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing to present and discuss plans for widening Highway 65 in Van Buren County.
The Location and Design Public Hearing will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 13, at Botkinburg Foursquare Church, located at 7054 Highway 65 in Clinton.
The hearing will focus on proposed improvements to Highway 65 from Dennard to Highway 110. ARDOT will present the proposed design plans and Environmental Assessment for the project.
The hearing will use an open-house format, allowing residents to arrive at any time during the scheduled 2-hour period. Members of the public will be able to review project information, speak with ARDOT representatives, ask questions and provide comments.
ARDOT says the purpose of the project is to improve accessibility and regional connectivity in north-central Arkansas. The proposed work would build upon previously completed projects to widen Highway 65.
A public meeting concerning the project was previously held in January 2025. The August hearing provides another opportunity for area residents, property owners, drivers and other interested parties to review the plans and participate in the transportation planning process.
Anyone unable to attend the hearing can review project materials and provide written comments online through ARDOT. Printed materials are also available at the ARDOT Area Maintenance Office at 465 Highway 95 West in Clinton and the Van Buren County Public Library at 289 Factory Road in Clinton.
Comments will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 28.
