The Mark and Becky Cornett Family of Cornett Farms in Locust Grove has been recognized as the 2026 Independence County Farm Family of the Year.

The Arkansas Farm Family of the Year Program has honored outstanding farm families across Arkansas for 79 years, recognizing leadership, agricultural achievement, conservation efforts, and community involvement.
Cornett Farms is located on Heber Springs Road in Locust Grove Arkansas. The family was selected to represent Independence County in the statewide competition and will now participate in the next phase of judging for District Farm Family of the Year honors.
According to program officials, the judging process allows farm families to showcase their agricultural operations and explain how their farms contribute to Arkansas agriculture and their local communities.
If selected as a district winner, the Cornett family would advance to compete for Arkansas Farm Family of the Year and potentially represent Arkansas at the Swisher Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie, Georgia later this year.
The Arkansas Farm Family of the Year Program continues to recognize the importance of agriculture and family farming operations throughout the state.
