A North Little Rock couple has turned outdoor adventure into a big win. Scott and Melissa Ervin earned a $1,000 shopping spree at Bass Pro Shops after competing in the 2026 Natural State Goosechase, organized by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and supported by the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation.

The interactive challenge used the Goosechase app, where participants completed missions tied to outdoor recreation—everything from fishing at local ponds to visiting nature centers across Arkansas.
Officials say more than 750 submissions were recorded during weekly missions this year, showing strong participation statewide. Teams that completed at least 80 percent of the challenges qualified for a drawing, with the Ervins among the top competitors.
The couple finished near the top in back-to-back years, completing nearly every mission in 2026. They traveled more than 460 miles exploring wildlife management areas and nature centers, discovering new locations along the way.
Melissa Ervin said the challenge introduced them to outdoor destinations they had never visited before, while Scott noted the competitive spirit kept them pushing until the final day.
Organizers say the program blends technology with outdoor experiences, encouraging Arkansans to get outside while engaging with conservation education programs.
