Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders joined Turning Point USA Chairwoman and CEO Erika Kirk Wednesday to announce a new partnership aimed at expanding Club America chapters in Arkansas high schools, but the event also led to 3 arrests following a protest outside the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock Arkansas.

Earlier in the day, Governor Sanders attended a Turning Point USA pep rally at Arkansas Christian Academy in Bryant Arkansas, where students celebrated the launch of the school’s Club America chapter. The rally highlighted student leadership, civic engagement, and the importance of faith and freedom in American life.

Later, Sanders and Kirk held a press conference at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion, where the governor signed a proclamation encouraging Arkansas high schools and colleges to support student-led civic organizations connected with Turning Point USA’s Club America program.

During the event, Arkansas State Police reported that protesters gathered outside the Governor’s Mansion.

According to officials, the situation escalated around 2:45 p.m. when protesters allegedly confronted event attendees outside the mansion.

Troopers attempted to de-escalate the situation, but authorities say 2 Arkansas State Police troopers were assaulted during the confrontation.

2 women and 1 man were taken into custody.

State police say 1 trooper was injured, while no civilians reported injuries.

Officials say the 2 women are being charged with second-degree battery, while the man faces charges of obstruction and resisting arrest.

Authorities also reported that approximately 30 protesters were outside the Governor’s Mansion, with about 10 individuals nearby when troopers were allegedly assaulted.

The proclamation signing event supported the expansion of Turning Point USA’s Club America program, which promotes student-led civic engagement, leadership development, and discussion of American founding principles.

Turning Point USA, founded in 2012 by Charlie Kirk, has grown into one of the nation’s largest youth movements focused on free markets, limited government, and American ideals.

The organization currently operates on more than 3,500 campuses nationwide, including more than 1,200 high school Club America chapters.

State leaders say the partnership aims to expand those chapters across Arkansas high schools, providing students with opportunities to become involved in civic leadership and public dialogue.
