The City of Searcy is alerting residents, businesses and motorists to expect extremely loud music, increased noise levels and a temporary road closure as the popular Wake the Dead vehicle audio competition returns to the Searcy Sports Complex on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

The event, which has been held in Searcy for several years, attracts vehicle audio enthusiasts, competitors and visitors from across the country.

City officials say the competition centers around powerful vehicle sound systems, meaning residents and businesses in the surrounding area should be prepared for unusually high noise levels throughout the event.

VETERANS BOULEVARD ROAD CLOSURE

As part of the event, Veterans Boulevard will be closed between Recreation Way and Booth Road.

Motorists traveling through the area should plan alternate routes, allow additional travel time and watch for event traffic and pedestrians.

The city has not announced specific hours for the road closure.

EXTREMELY LOUD MUSIC EXPECTED

Wake the Dead features vehicles equipped with high-powered sound systems designed to produce extremely high audio levels.

The competition draws participants and spectators interested in custom vehicle audio systems and the performance of specialized equipment.

Because of the powerful audio equipment, city officials say extremely loud music and increased noise levels should be expected throughout the event.

Residents living near the Searcy Sports Complex, along with nearby businesses, should be aware of the potential disruptions.

NO SOCCER GAMES OR NEARBY ACTIVITIES

The City of Searcy says no soccer games or other activities will be scheduled in the immediate area during the competition.

The decision is intended to accommodate the event’s unique sound requirements while reducing conflicts with other recreational activities.

CITY WORKING TO MINIMIZE DISRUPTIONS

City officials say they are working closely with event organizers to accommodate the competition while minimizing disruptions to surrounding neighborhoods, businesses and the traveling public.

The city also acknowledged the importance of welcoming competitors and visitors from across the country to Searcy.

In its public announcement, the City of Searcy thanked the community for its patience and understanding during the event.

The competition is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, at the Searcy Sports Complex.

Residents and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead for loud music, increased traffic and the closure of Veterans Boulevard between Recreation Way and Booth Road.
