Lyon College President Melissa Taverner Named Top 100 Woman of Arkansas

Lyon College President Dr. Melissa Taverner has been named one of the 2026 Top 100 Women of Arkansas by Little Rock Soirée magazine and the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas.

The recognition honors women from across Arkansas for leadership, professional achievement and contributions to their communities.

For Taverner, the 2026 honor marks the 2nd time she has been included on the prestigious list. She was previously recognized in 2023.

Lyon College congratulated Taverner following the announcement, highlighting her commitment to students and the college community.

“Those of us at Lyon see every day how much she cares about our students and their success,” the college said in announcing the honor. “We’re happy to see her recognized in this way and grateful for her leadership.”

Taverner serves as president of Lyon College in Batesville and has helped lead the institution through a period of growth and continued development.

The Top 100 Women of Arkansas recognition is released every 3 years by Little Rock Soirée and the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas.

The list recognizes women whose leadership and work are making an impact in business, education, healthcare, public service, nonprofit organizations and other areas across Arkansas.

Lyon College officials said the recognition reflects Taverner’s dedication to students and her leadership of the institution.

The college congratulated Taverner on again earning a place among the Top 100 Women of Arkansas.
