A 19‑year‑old woman was arrested after an alleged hammer attack during a domestic disturbance in Batesville, Arkansas, where the victim was injured and $300 was taken, according to court documents reported by The Arkansas Insider.
Alleged Hammer Attack and Arrest
Officers from the Batesville Police Department responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence on Oak Street around 11:36 p.m. on Oct. 10. When they arrived, they found Joe Harper standing near the bottom of the steps, appearing unsteady and bleeding from a head injury. Harper told officers that he and 19‑year‑old Talynn Kay Cryderman had been drinking, that she struck him with a hammer after he asked her to leave, took $300, and locked him out.
Harper was transported by Vital Link EMS to White River Medical Center for treatment. He suffered a 3‑ to 4‑inch cut to the upper left side of his head and a broken left wrist. He remained hospitalized as investigators continued their inquiry.
Investigators went to Cryderman’s residence on Vine Street later that night and again the following day. They heard someone inside but received no response when they knocked on the door. It is not yet known what occurred inside the home after that.
Cryderman was arrested on Oct. 14 and faces second‑degree domestic battery, a Class C felony, and theft of property, a Class A misdemeanor. Her bond was set at $25,000 and her first court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 27. The Arkansas Insider notes that the allegations have not been proven and Cryderman is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
