Residents across Newton County are reacting to a new wave of openness from their law‑enforcement agency, signaling a shift toward greater public oversight.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office has launched a Flock Transparency page that lets citizens view the number of searches conducted, access the agency’s policy, and explore additional information, aiming to address community concerns and foster dialogue.

Sheriff’s Office Publishes Transparency Page

The Newton County Sheriff’s Office announced the creation of a public transparency portal on the Flock platform. The effort is described as part of the agency’s commitment to openness.

The page displays the total number of searches performed by the department and provides a full copy of the operating policy. Additional resources are also made available for public review.

Chief Deputy Adam Sirmons stated that the office understands citizen concerns and wants to work toward a safer community while remaining transparent. He noted he has already spoken with several residents and will continue the dialogue.

The exact number of searches recorded on the site has not been disclosed, and broader public reaction remains to be seen.
