Police Direct Traffic After Signal Timing Change Causes Backups In Cabot, Arkansas

Commuters in central Arkansas are feeling the pinch as unexpected traffic snarls grip a key highway corridor.

An emergency adjustment to traffic signals on the Exit 16 interchange, made during ARDOT construction, has led to backups, prompting Cabot Police and the city street team to direct traffic while a contractor works to fix the timing.

Signal Timing Adjustment Leads to Backups

According to the City of Cabot, during ARDOT’s work on the Exit 16 interchange last night an emergency adjustment was made to the traffic signals. The adjustment altered the timing of nearby lights. This change is causing traffic backups at this time.

ARDOT’s contractor has been dispatched to correct the problem. The contractor is on the way to the site. No estimated time for resolution has been provided.

In the meantime, the City’s street team and Cabot Police officers are on the scene. They are directing traffic and helping vehicles move through the area. Their presence aims to alleviate congestion.
