CSAM ALERT: Cabot Man Arrested Following Cellphone Investigation

A Cabot man has been arrested on 9 counts following an investigation and forensic examination of a cellphone, according to the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff John Staley said deputies arrested 59-year-old David Newton on September 4, 2026.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation began August 1, 2026, after deputies responded to the same address regarding a disturbance.

During the investigation, deputies seized a cellphone reportedly belonging to Newton. Investigators later obtained a search warrant and conducted a forensic examination of the device.

Authorities said the examination revealed images depicting suspected child sexual abuse material, commonly referred to as CSAM, along with other evidence.

Newton was charged with:

3 FELONY COUNTS

Distributing, Possessing, or Viewing Matter Depicting Sexually Explicit Conduct Involving a Child

1 MISDEMEANOR COUNT

Sexual Solicitation

5 MISDEMEANOR COUNTS

Voyeurism

The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released additional information concerning the circumstances surrounding the alleged offenses.

The charges against Newton are accusations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
