As another successful watermelon season begins to wind down, organizers of the Cave City Watermelon Festival are asking the public to continue supporting the hardworking growers who help make the community famous across Arkansas and beyond.
Known as the home of “The World’s Sweetest Watermelons,” Cave City has developed a statewide reputation for producing high-quality melons. The annual Cave City Watermelon Festival began in 1980 as a one-day celebration organized by the local chamber of commerce. It has since grown into one of the region’s largest summer festivals.
Local watermelon growers work throughout the year to prepare their fields, plant crops and produce the melons enjoyed by families across the state. Festival representatives encourage customers to follow the growers on social media, contact them directly and visit their local stands before the season ends.
Customers looking for an authentic Cave City Watermelon should watch for the official registered trademark sticker. Festival organizers say only genuine Cave City Watermelons produced by registered growers carry that sticker.
