Sharp County Couple Faces Rape and Child Abuse Charges

A Sharp County couple faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following an investigation into the alleged sexual and physical abuse of children.

A judge found probable cause to charge Scott Ewing, 48, of Evening Shade, and Summer Wolfe-Ewing in connection with the allegations.

Scott Ewing faces:

6 counts of rape, Class Y felonies
1 count of 1st-degree domestic battery, a Class B felony
1 count of 2nd-degree domestic battery, a Class C felony
1 count of 1st-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, a Class A misdemeanor
3 counts of permitting abuse of a minor, Class B felonies
6 counts of sexual indecency with a child, Class D felonies
1 count of sexually grooming a child, a Class D felony

Summer Wolfe-Ewing faces:

1 count of rape under accomplice liability, a Class Y felony
3 counts of permitting abuse of a minor, Class B felonies
1 count of 1st-degree domestic battering under accomplice liability, a Class B felony
2 counts of 2nd-degree domestic battering under accomplice liability, Class C felonies
3 counts of 1st-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, Class D felonies
3 counts of 3rd-degree domestic battering, Class A misdemeanors

Deputies spoke with Summer Wolfe-Ewing at an Ash Flat gas station on Thursday, July 23. She reportedly told them she was running from her husband after he abused her and their children.

Sharp County Deputy Austin Carpenter later spoke with Wolfe-Ewing at White River Medical Center.

Investigators allege Scott Ewing sexually assaulted 1 child and physically assaulted another. Deputies were also told that he would lash out at anyone who attempted to interfere.

A deputy reported the allegations to the Arkansas Department of Human Services and forwarded photographs of the alleged victims to Crimes Against Children investigators.

The identities of the children are not being released.

The charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
