A Drasco woman will spend 20 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction after pleading guilty to shooting her former boyfriend multiple times.

Rebecca Mryglod, 38, was sentenced Tuesday to 240 months for first-degree domestic battery.

The case followed a November 2024 shooting at a home on Altom Road in Drasco.

Deputies found Kevin Altom suffering from 17 gunshot wounds. He was flown to a hospital in critical condition.

Investigators said Mryglod had blood on her hands and clothing when deputies arrived.

Mryglod told detectives she had moved back in with Altom to help him battle what she described as spiritual demons.

She said she purchased a .22-caliber pistol 3 days before the shooting.

Mryglod told investigators that after sending her daughter to school, she returned to the home and pointed the pistol at Altom as he stood up from a couch.

She then opened fire, striking Altom multiple times.

According to investigators, Mryglod said she would rather Altom be dead than continue attempting to help him.

Mryglod entered a negotiated guilty plea to first-degree domestic battery.

As part of the plea agreement, a second domestic-battery charge and another charge involving drugs and firearms were dismissed.

Mryglod will serve her 20-year sentence in the Arkansas Department of Correction.
