A Kansas City man faces 3 felony charges after Conway Police say he entered the home of a 99-year-old woman early Saturday morning.

According to the Conway Police Department, officers responded to a reported residential burglary in the 1800 block of Washington Avenue during the early morning hours of August 15.

Investigators said the 99-year-old woman had been asleep when she awakened and discovered an unknown man inside her residence. The suspect reportedly left the home before officers arrived.

Police later identified the suspect as 34-year-old Matthew Jayce Turk of Kansas City. Officers located Turk and arrested him at the Faulkner County Library.

Authorities said Turk is homeless and is believed to have been in the Conway area for several weeks. Investigators do not believe he has any ties to the Conway community.

Police said the woman suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment. Turk also sustained injuries during the incident and was transported to an area hospital. He was treated and released before being taken to jail.

Turk was arrested on the following charges:

Aggravated Residential Burglary — Class Y Felony

Battery in the 2nd Degree — Class C Felony

Sexual Assault in the 2nd Degree — Class B Felony

Turk was booked into the Faulkner County Detention Center. Police said he would remain without bond until his first court appearance. The county’s inmate roster currently lists his bond at $0.

The charges are allegations. Turk is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
