Two juveniles are in custody following a shooting Thursday night in Conway that left an unoccupied vehicle riddled with gunfire but caused no injuries.

According to the Conway Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:44 p.m. on July 9 to multiple reports of gunfire near Hairston Avenue and Manor Street.

When officers arrived, they found an unoccupied vehicle that had been struck multiple times by bullets. Investigators determined the people involved were acquainted with one another, and police believe the shooting was an isolated incident.

Authorities said there were no reported injuries and no property damage beyond the vehicle.

The suspects fled the scene, but Conway police located and arrested 2 juvenile suspects less than 1 mile away within about 30 minutes of the shooting. One of the suspects attempted to run from officers before being taken into custody.

During the arrests, officers recovered 2 handguns, both of which had previously been reported stolen.

Both juveniles have been charged with:

Aggravated Assault
Criminal Mischief in the First Degree
Theft by Receiving

One of the juveniles also faces an additional charge of Fleeing.

Because the suspects are juveniles, police are not releasing their names.

The investigation remains ongoing, and Conway Police say additional charges may be filed as detectives continue reviewing evidence.
