Governor Sanders Announces Trump Accounts for All Arkansas Foster Youth

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Monday that all Arkansas foster youth will be enrolled in the new Trump Account program, a tax-advantaged investment account established through President Donald J. Trump’s One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act.
According to the Governor’s Office, the program is designed to help children begin saving for their futures before adulthood. Governor Sanders said supporting foster youth remains one of her administration’s top priorities.
“One of my top priorities as Governor has been to make sure our most vulnerable young people, our foster youth, are set up for success,” Sanders said. “Thanks to President Trump’s Trump Account program, we’re giving these young people a chance to start saving for the future before they even reach adulthood.”
The Trump Account program is available to all U.S. children under age 18. Children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, qualify for an initial one-time $1,000 government-funded contribution. Parents, grandparents, guardians, nonprofit organizations, and employers may also contribute to the accounts with an annual limit of $5,000.
Arkansas Department of Human Services officials praised the program, saying it will help children in foster care build stronger financial futures.
DCFS Director Tiffany Wright said establishing savings accounts can be difficult for children entering foster care, but the new program helps close that gap. DHS Secretary Janet Mann called the initiative an incredible opportunity that will positively impact Arkansas families for years to come.
Governor Sanders has focused heavily on foster care reform since taking office. Her administration says there are now fewer than 200 children waiting for adoption statewide for the first time since records have been collected.
More information about the Trump Account program is available through the federal government.
