Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division Special Agents are investigating an assault on a correctional officer that occurred at the Larry B. Norris Unit of the Arkansas Division of Correction in Tucker.

According to authorities, the incident happened at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, after correctional staff returned inmate Christopher Ivey, 45, to his cell.
Investigators say Ivey allegedly stabbed a correctional officer in the facial area with a contraband weapon during the incident.
The injured officer was transported to a local medical center for treatment and was later released.
Arkansas State Police CID has opened an investigation into the assault and is working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Records show that Ivey was most recently sentenced to the Arkansas Division of Correction in June 2025 after convictions for Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons, 2 counts of Terroristic Threatening, and Battery in the First Degree. He is currently serving a 96-month prison sentence.
