Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission have announced that applications for the Fiscal Year 2027 Community Assistance Grant Program will open July 1.

The Community Assistance Grant Program is a 20% matching grant program designed to create economic opportunity, reduce poverty, promote self-sufficiency, and revitalize communities across Arkansas.

Eligible applicants, including Arkansas cities, counties, and nonprofit organizations, may apply for up to $1.5 million per fiscal year for qualifying community and economic development projects. The Arkansas Economic Development Commission will administer the program and distribute $10 million during the current grant cycle.

Governor Sanders said strong communities are essential to a strong state and emphasized the program’s goal of helping organizations provide opportunities that empower Arkansans to achieve greater stability and self-sufficiency.

State officials say this year’s funding priorities will include projects that address childhood food insecurity, unemployment, education, resources for crime victims, housing assistance, nutrition programs, and emergency services.

Grant recipients will be required to provide a 20% match through cash contributions, in-kind labor, materials, or land.

Applications will be accepted from July 1 through August 15, 2026. Funding awards are expected to be announced in early Fall 2026.

The Arkansas Economic Development Commission encourages eligible organizations throughout the state to review the program requirements and submit applications during the application period.
