A judge on Thursday dismissed the murder case against Lonoke County Sheriff candidate Aaron Spencer.

Spencer had been charged in 2024 with 2nd-degree murder in the shooting death of Michael Fosler. According to court filings, Spencer shot Fosler after reportedly spotting the man driving his daughter.
Fosler had previously been released on bond after being accused of raping Spencer’s underage daughter in July of 2024.
Special Circuit Court Judge Ralph Wilson Jr. dismissed the case citing due process violations. Court filings from Spencer’s attorneys alleged missing evidence and investigative misconduct by investigators handling the case.
One issue reportedly involved an SD card from a dash camera inside Fosler’s pickup truck that investigators allegedly lost.
Court documents released Thursday stated the murder charge against Aaron Spencer has officially been dismissed.
This remains a developing story.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
