Students from Arkansas State University-Newport are celebrating a major achievement after earning a total of 18 medals at the recent SkillsUSA State Conference.

The awards spanned multiple disciplines within the Applied Sciences Division, highlighting the depth of talent and training across technical programs.

In Computer Networking Technology and Information Technology Services, Dylan Lucas earned gold while Jose Sayago took bronze. Welding students Lamondrean Mitchell, Preston Sims, and Trip Johnson secured bronze in the team fabrication event.

Cosmetology competitors also delivered strong performances, with Ella Oxley winning gold, Kateleigh Smith earning silver, and Ayla Russell taking bronze. In Esthetics, Riley Staten captured gold, Anna Smith earned silver, and Gweneth Zimmerman brought home bronze.

Energy Control Technology students competed in HVACR and Electrical Construction Wiring. Jordan Miller earned silver in HVACR, while Matthew Price added two bronze medals across categories. Tyler Booth claimed gold in Electrical Construction Wiring, with Caden Byrd earning silver.

In Culinary Arts, Carlee Holmes brought home a gold medal, rounding out an impressive showing for ASU-Newport.
College leaders say the results reflect the strength of career and technical education programs preparing students for high-demand careers across Arkansas. Students who earned top honors may now advance to national-level competition.
