Officer Trapped Inside Patrol Car Sent To Hospital
Officer Chaves lost control of his 2021 Dodge Charger on Arkansas Highway 26, failing to navigate a curve near the Helms Road intersection.
The accident occurred at 4:20 a.m. on September 11, 2024, when Chaves’s vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree. The impact was such that the car came to a rest only after significant collision damage.
Emergency services, including firefighters, rushed to the scene. They had to work quickly to free Chaves from the vehicle, as nearby trees prevented the door from opening normally.
Chaves is currently in recovery following the extraction from his patrol unit, focusing on healing from the injuries sustained in the crash.
