Arkansas residents are reacting to fresh breakthroughs in a homicide case that has lingered for years.
Pine Bluff Police have now served murder warrants to two additional suspects, Kenon Smith and Quentine Lowe, in connection with the 2023 double homicide that killed Ashrray Thomas and Julian Tolbert, marking the latest step in a multi‑year investigation originally sparked by a shooting at the Sunset Apartments.
Two Additional Suspects Served Murder Warrants
The Pine Bluff Police Department announced that two more individuals were served with murder warrants tied to the March 7, 2023 double homicide. The new warrants target Kenon Smith, 24, taken into custody in Little Rock on Oct 13, 2026, and Quentine Lowe, 22, already detained on unrelated charges. Both were linked to the deaths of Ashrray Thomas and Julian Tolbert.
The original incident occurred at the Sunset Apartments, where officers found three gunshot victims inside a silver Chevrolet Malibu, two of whom, Ashrray Thomas and Julian Tolbert, died. A third victim, Aspen Thomas, survived, and a fourth victim, Chequan Brown, was later located at Heritage Manor Apartments. The investigation initially led to the 2023 arrest of Kavon Bledsoe.
Chief Shawn Davis reiterated the department’s commitment to solving violent crimes and delivering justice for the victims’ families. The department highlighted the importance of ongoing evidence gathering and inter‑agency collaboration. No further details about potential trials have been released.
The Heat Magazine reported on the developments, noting that more than three years after the shooting, the case remains active. Authorities have not disclosed whether additional suspects are being sought. All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
