Jacksonville “Audit” Finds Same Vehicle Was Targeted 24 Times

, , Leave a comment

A sweeping audit of surveillance tools has ignited a statewide conversation about privacy and oversight in Arkansas.

The Arkansas Accountability Project examined Jacksonville’s September ALPR audit logs, finding one plate was searched 24 times over ten days, prompting calls for further review while noting no conclusive misuse has been proven.

Repeated ALPR searches highlighted in audit

One account queried the same license plate 24 times across nearly ten days, each time labeled “stolen” and without a case-number, eventually expanding the search to 5,657 networks.

Another account performed 23 mobile lookups of a different plate in under 23 minutes using an assault/battery reason, and 15 mobile lookups of yet another plate over about eight hours with a theft reason, shifting between three and 159 networks.

The patterns do not establish misuse; Jacksonville’s Policy 10-28 does not require a case number for every search, so blank fields alone cannot be deemed violations.

Little Rock reported 28 searches of one plate over ten days classified as misuse, but no numeric threshold is set statewide, and Jacksonville officials have not yet commented, leaving the activity unproven as misconduct.
