A new veterans memorial in Batesville is now standing as a permanent tribute to men and women who have served in the United States military.
Members of Pioneer Nation recently gathered for the dedication of the Pioneer Park Veterans Memorial, created to honor veterans whose service and sacrifice have helped shape the Batesville community and the country.
Organizers say the memorial was made possible through the work of the Pioneer Park Steering Committee along with donors, community partners, staff members and others who contributed their time, resources and talents to the project.
The dedication also recognized members of the Pioneer family who gave their lives while serving in the military.
Officials thanked everyone who attended the special ceremony and helped make the veterans memorial a reality.
The memorial is intended to serve as a place where students, families and community members can remember, reflect and honor those who have served.
Organizers said they hope Pioneer Park will continue to stand for generations as a lasting reminder of the service and sacrifice made by veterans and military families.
The dedication was highlighted as part of a Thankful Thursday message from Pioneer Nation, expressing gratitude to those who have served, those currently serving and everyone who helped create the memorial.
