A 1.9 magnitude earthquake was recorded Tuesday morning near Strawberry and Cave City in northern Arkansas.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred at approximately 10:18 a.m. CDT Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 2 kilometers, or 1.2 miles, north of Strawberry in Lawrence County. The location was also approximately 20 kilometers, or 12.4 miles, from Cave City.
The USGS identified the magnitude type as “md,” or duration magnitude. The earthquake was reviewed by a seismologist.
As of the latest USGS report, no members of the public had submitted reports indicating they felt the earthquake.
Small earthquakes of this magnitude can occur without being noticed by residents, especially when there is little or no noticeable shaking at the surface.
