A Conway man is now facing a capital murder charge following the death of an infant who suffered life-threatening injuries in April.

According to the Conway Police Department, officers responded to a local hospital on April 24, 2026, after receiving a report involving an infant with severe injuries.
Investigators launched an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case. As a result, the child’s father, James Dunbar Jr., was taken into custody and initially charged with Domestic Battery in the First Degree and 3 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor.
After approximately 1 week of medical care, the infant died from the injuries. Following the death, the charge was upgraded to Capital Murder at the request of Conway Police.
Officials say the investigation remains ongoing as authorities work with prosecutors to pursue justice in the case.
