Arkansas agriculture is taking center stage as U.S. Senator John Boozman highlights a Lonoke County producer in a national spotlight on farm policy.

Rice farmer Mark Isbell of Lonoke County Arkansas has been featured in the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry’s “Faces Behind Farm Policy” series. The initiative showcases farmers, ranchers, and producers across the country, emphasizing the real-world impact of agricultural legislation.

Isbell, a 4th-generation Arkansas farmer, is recognized for his leadership in sustainability and conservation practices. He has served on multiple industry organizations, including the USA Rice Sustainability Committee, and is frequently called upon by lawmakers for insight into agriculture policy.

Senator Boozman, who chairs the Senate Agriculture Committee, said the series helps bring attention to the voices of producers who play a critical role in feeding the nation and shaping policy decisions in Washington.

Isbell has testified before both the Senate and House Agriculture Committees, offering firsthand perspectives on the challenges farmers face in today’s marketplace and regulatory environment.

“We’ve got challenges within both the marketplace and within government that are not adequately prioritizing agriculture,” Isbell said. “It’s the energy that everybody runs on.”

The “Faces Behind Farm Policy” series, launched in 2024, continues to highlight agricultural leaders nationwide, reinforcing the importance of farming to rural communities and national food security.
