6 irrigation theft cases in the Griffithville area were officially closed by arrest on 3-2-2026, following the arrest of James Steven Holt, 61, of Searcy.

According to court documents filed in White County District Court, Holt faces multiple felony charges, including:
1 count of Theft of Property, Class “B” Felony
1 count of Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Class “B” Felony
2 counts of Theft by Receiving, Class “D” Felonies
Authorities say a series of similar thefts tore through the Griffithville area last week when multiple farmers discovered irrigation components had been stolen and wells catastrophically damaged.
The cases were assigned to Street Crimes Detective Paul McIntosh, who reportedly uncovered evidence linking a suspect to the stolen items within 2 hours of receiving the case assignment.
Investigators say Holt was identified after stolen hydrants and other irrigation equipment were located at a recycling facility. During a traffic stop on 3-2-2026, Holt was read his Miranda Rights and agreed to speak with investigators. Authorities state Holt admitted to involvement in multiple thefts connected to the cases.
Reports indicate the combined total of the thefts is approximately $31,000, with an estimated $64,800 in damage to irrigation systems and wells.
Holt was transported to the White County Detention Center, where bond was set at $75,000 by District Judge Eric Kennedy. He remains in custody.
