Heber Springs Teacher Jailed in White County Child Exploitation Case

A Heber Springs teacher is jailed and facing felony charges following an investigation by the White County Sheriff’s Department.

Court records show David Isaac Gauvey, 30, of Mount Vernon, was arrested Wednesday and is currently being held in the White County Detention Center on a $45,000 bond.

Gauvey is listed as a member of the agriculture education staff at Heber Springs High School.

According to filings in White County Circuit Court, Gauvey faces charges including Engaging Children in Sexually Explicit Conduct for Use in Visual or Print Medium, a Class B felony, and Distributing, Possessing, or Viewing Matter Depicting Sexually Explicit Conduct Involving a Child, a Class C felony.

An affidavit filed February 5 states detectives began investigating after allegations surfaced in late December 2025. Authorities allege a juvenile victim reported that Gauvey solicited and exchanged nude images with her while she was underage. Investigators state Gauvey later admitted during an interview that he exchanged nude images with someone he knew to be a juvenile at the time.

A bench warrant was issued February 25 by Circuit Judge Mark Pate. Court documents allege the offenses occurred between October 2018 and October 2020.

The case will proceed in White County Circuit Court.
