Structure Fire Near Highway 10 Engulfs Home
The Conway County Fire Department reported that firefighters from five departments worked together Sunday morning to battle a structure fire just off Highway 10 near Casa. They saved much of the home’s living quarters and ensured the homeowners escaped unharmed.
Crews from Oppelo and Petit Jean responded to assist Adona, Casa, and Perry firefighters at the scene. The fire appeared to have started in a front room and spread to the kitchen area. While the blaze damaged much of the home, firefighters were able to salvage some of the living space.
The incident was the first response under a mutual aid agreement signed last week between Oppelo and Perry. Officials said the agreement is expected to lower insurance premiums for Perry residents. They added that the fire demonstrated the value of departments assisting one another on larger fires.
The exact cause of the fire has not been determined. It is not yet known whether any other structures were affected. The fire departments will continue their investigation.
