A shocking homicide has jolted the local community, igniting fear and urgency among residents.
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office announced that Troy Hendrix, 30, was found dead after a shooting on Martin Road, and that 72‑year‑old Dickie Johnson was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including capital murder.
Shooting on Martin Road Leads to Arrest
On October 9, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 700 block of Martin Road. Upon arrival they found an adult male victim, Troy Hendrix, 30, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Hendrix was pronounced deceased at the scene. No further information about the circumstances of his death is currently known.
The suspect, identified as 72‑year‑old Dickie Johnson, fled before deputies arrived but was located a short distance away and taken into custody. He was transported to the Saline County Detention Facility.
Reportedly, Johnson has been charged with capital murder, a terroristic act, DWI, and endangering the welfare of a minor, according to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office press release. No additional details have been released at this time.
