A shooting in Arkansas has left the community on edge as officials rush to respond and investigate.
On September 21, 2026, Pike County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported shooting at a Kirby residence, located a victim with two gunshot wounds, arranged an airlift for further medical treatment, and detained a suspect while Arkansas State Police assumed investigative control.

Deputies from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched after a 911 call reported a shooting at a home in the town of Kirby. When they arrived, they found a victim with two apparent gunshot wounds. Pafford EMS personnel provided initial medical care on scene.
After treatment, the victim was moved to a nearby landing zone where a helicopter airlifted them for advanced medical care. The victim’s condition was not disclosed, and details about their identity remain unknown. The airlift was coordinated by local emergency services.
Law enforcement reportedly identified an individual believed to be the shooter and detained them at the scene. The suspect is being held while investigators gather evidence. At this time, the suspect’s identity and motive have not been released.
